Extract - "This letter is to confirm that I have worked with Melanie Rowland for several years through which time she provided the Osteopathy service to the Electrolux cooker manufacturing facility.

The factory employed approximately 600 personnel in a wide range of disciplines and Melanie was responsible for providing the full osteopathy service for this workforce. This included giving advice and treatment to employees, liaison with occupational health professionals and management on osteopathy issues and participation in occupational health initiatives.

During the time of Electrolux association with Melanie, we were extremely successful in reducing work related absence. Testimonial - Judith Cormack

After suffering not inconsiderable pain over a period of 20 months  with a frozen shoulder I contacted Melanie Rowland in May 2009 for a consultation.

Initially I was referred to the Physiotherapy  Department at Bishop Auckland General Hospital after developing terrible pain in my right shoulder.  At first I  had physio on a weekly basis which did not alleviate the pain .  I was then given cortisone injections .  When I had the maximum permitted of the cortisone I was then offered, and took, acupuncture.  This started off on the right shoulder and then progressed down the arm and eventually all the way from the wrist to back of neck, again it worked at first but then not at all. The appointments were then every 3 weeks as it became evident nothing was working long term.

I had an arthroscopy on my right knee in August 2008 and at the same time the surgeon gave me manipulation under anaesthetic for the shoulder, along with a large dose of cortisone.  This worked perfectly , with no pain and free movement of the arm, for approx 8 weeks the pain then returned just as severe.  I was referred again to the Physio who said that there was nothing more that could be done.

7 months later I contacted Melanie Rowland in May 2009 for a consult, after reading about her work in a local newspaper.  After the first appointment I attended on a weekly/2 weekly basis for 6 months during which time  the pain was alleviated , movement greatly increased  and,  important to me,  I was managing uninterrupted sleep for up to 6 hours.  Being able to move the arm, look over my right shoulder  and generally move it freely is wonderful.  

Had I known about osteopathy and it’s results I would have chosen this treatment  before anything else I endured in the quest for pain relief and freedom of movement.

I would certainly recommend Melanie and her osteopathic  skills.
